In 2002, the Spider-Man 1 movie was set to release! Alongside it would be a movie tie-in game for next gen consoles PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube. This movie game would be developed by Treyarch, and take a lot of influence from the Neversoft PS1 Spider-Man game. However, this game would see a ton of improvements over the PS1 era Spider-Man games, including new combo attacks, aerial combat, and a playable Green Goblin! It even had some stars of the movie return to voice their characters. Specifically, Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe. Even though Spider-Man 1 felt like quite an improvement over prior games at the time, it’s been overshadowed by the many Spider-Man games that came after it. So today, I hope you’ll join me in revisiting the Spider-Man 1 movie game to discuss everything it did well, and why its been forgotten over time.
