If you’ve ever wondered what mouse DPI, (sometimes referred to as CPI) to use for PC gaming then this mouse settings guide is for you. This guide will cover topics like, what is native DPI, mouse latency, is high DPI and low sens or low DPI and high sens better, does low dpi cause pixel skipping, and more.
Now assuming that you’re using a native DPI that your gaming mouse sensor supports, which dpi is the best? Should you use 400 dpi vs 800 dpi, or 1600 dpi? Or maybe something else?
Well there’s a lot of confusion around this topic because mouse DPI often gets confused with mouse sensitivity. You see dpi does change your sensitivity but it’s not the only factor for calculating that sensitivity. It is very possible for someone who uses 400 dpi to have the same sensitivity as someone using 1600 dpi. The person using 400 dpi would just need to have an in game sensitivity that is 4 times higher than the person using 1600 but the end result would be a sensitivity that is identical in game. So then why is dpi such a hot topic then? If it doesn’t affect your sensitivity then why bother even worrying about it? Well even though it may not determine your sensitivity there are other pros and cons of using high DPI vs low DPI.
