North Carolina vs. Appalachian State: The North Carolina Tar Heels escaped Boone, NC with a 63-61 win in a shootout for the ages. The Mountaineers opened up the scoring and built a 21-7 lead, but the Heels roared back, taking a 28-21 lead just before halftime. The back-and-forth scoring continued in the 2nd half as Carolina built a 41-21 lead. App State then staged a comeback, and scored in the final minute to bring the Mountaineers within 2 points. ASU failed on the 2-pt attempt and UNC escaped with the win. Drake Maye completed 24-of-36 passes for 352 yards and 4 touchdown passes while rushing for 76 yards and a score on the ground as well.
