The Robinhood app revolutionized investing with no-fee trading and then fractional share investing. It’s doing it again with 24-hour investing in 43 stocks and ETFs. You will now be able to invest in these stocks at any time between 8pm Sunday through 8pm Friday eastern. This change to investing will bring opportunities but also a lot of risks so I want to highlight how to invest on Robinhood and the details behind 24-hour investing.

Robinhood hasn’t fully rolled this out yet but does offer a screenshot and step-by-step for how this is going to work. The stocks available for 24-hour trading will show a special icon and the app will create a special list with all 43 stocks and ETFs. Besides Apple, Tesla and Amazon, I’m guessing it’s going to be at least most of the most popular 20 stocks on the list like Disney, AMC and Ford along with the most liquid ETFs like they SPY and QQQ.
The change to the Robinhood app will also mean new risks for many investors. 24-hour stock investing will resemble futures trading which already has that overnight session. Besides higher volatility and price swings, the costs to invest could be higher with wider bid-ask spreads for stocks on Robinhood. These Robinhood 24-hour stocks could also be susceptible to scams and stories on social seeking to change prices. You’ll need to be ready for all these risks in 24-hour investing.
